My name is Helva Enkel, a Campbell River based photographer specializing in portraiture, weddings, maternity, and lifestyle photography. I am endlessly inspired by connection, by the quiet glances, the spontaneous laughter, and the moments that unfold when people are simply present with one another. I believe the most meaningful images are created when life is allowed to happen naturally.  My sessions are intentionally relaxed and playful, giving space for genuine emotion, honest movement, and images that feel vibrant, timeless, and deeply alive.

My love for photography began long before I ever picked up a camera.  As a child, my sister and I would sit together for hours, slowly turning the pages of our family photo albums. We didn’t just look at the photographs, we stepped back into them, reliving stories, emotions, and moments that time had already carried forward. Even then, I understood the quiet magic photographs hold: their ability to preserve memory, to anchor us to the people and moments we never want to forget.

That appreciation grew into something deeper when I became a mother. With the arrival of my children came an overwhelming desire to document every fleeting milestone, the first smile, tiny hands wrapped around mine, the wobbly first steps, and eventually the proud walk into kindergarten. Through my lens, I learned just how quickly time moves and how powerful it is to hold onto the moments that pass in the blink of an eye.

Photography soon became more than a passion, it became my calling. For the past ten years, I have had the honor of photographing families, couples, and loved ones, capturing their stories in an honest and heartfelt way. Every session reminds me why I fell in love with this art in the first place: because photographs are more than images, they are memories, heirlooms, and pieces of our story that live on long after the moment has passed.
